With the wide array of inexpensive products on the market today there is no reason to not double your closet and storage space by getting organized. When searching for closet organizers that are inexpensive you should look at a variety of inexpensive tools that can be used.
Some good choices are:
- Canvas
- Wire
- Floating shelves
- Baskets
- Pressed wood or particle board shelving units
In many of the discount, or department stores you can often find the canvas closet organizers that are the perfect fit for closets that you want to add some organizational shelves to without the high cost or difficulty of adding shelves. These come in solid colors or sometimes patterns that fit in with several décor choices. You will often find these organizing shelves that slide onto your existing long bar and they generally have between five and eight shelves. Each shelf in these canvas organizers is approximately 12” x 12” and can fit several sweaters or other clothing items folded neatly in each space. There are also canvas organizers with shoe pockets that can be hung on your existing bar as well. There are several styles of canvas drawers that can be used inside of the canvas shelving systems that can be used with them to create a truly personal inexpensive closet organizing system. One other benefit of the canvas organizing systems is that canvas is a paint able surface and can lend itself nicely to a child’s décor or allow you to add your own flair to your closet.
With wire shelving systems you have to first remove your existing shelf and bar in order to install the support brackets that will replace the old bar and shelf. Wire shelving is inexpensive and readily available at all department stores, home improvement stores, and even some discount stores. For this reason many people choose these when trying to become more organized. One downfall of these types of organization systems is that you must also be sure to install them into studs so that they will have the ability to support the many shelves and baskets on each shelf. There are wire basket drawers that can be purchased with this system as well and can be incorporated into the overall set up of your closet organizer.
At nearly every home improvement store you will also find particle board or pressed wood organizational systems. These systems often cost several hundred dollars and require you to install them yourself. You may find that they look nice for a while but after several years of baring the weight of your clothing the particle board or pressed wood can show signs of wear with bending or cracking, some shelves may even break and require you to replace pieces. They can be used very well for a short time but should not be counted on as permanent fixtures. These closet organizer systems are nice when you are first getting started or if you live in apartments where you won’t want to spend the money on more expensive closet organizing systems.
