Add Storage Space With A Hanging Closet Organizer

Very few people will ever tell you that they have more room in their closet than they will ever use. In reality, the opposite is usually true and most home designs will not allow for remodeling to make the closet bigger. The easiest and fastest way to add room to a closet is with a hanging closet organizer. Not only will there be more space, but they can make finding things in the closet that much easier.

A hanging closet organizer is available in many different sizes and shapes and can fit into most closets, even the smallest ones, as they hang from the existing hanger rod. Typically, a hanging closet organizer will add a second rod to the existing one, essentially doubling the amount of space available for hanging clothes. However, they can also be found with  shelves  built into the organizer for storing sweaters, sloes or anything else that needs to be kept neat and ready to wear.

Occasionally, there may be a need to add closet space and there is a hanging closet organizer that has space for both hanging clothes as well as storage shelves. This organizer can be hung in any closet to make additional space needed for visitors or guests and then taken down and folded for storage until the next time it is needed. They can also be hung from the basement rafters to store seasonal clothes.

For larger areas hanging closet organizer units can be found to fit spaces from five to eight feet wide, which include shelving units and hanging areas for suits, dress, shirts and anything else that fits on a hanger. The Home Depot closet organizers come in these specialty sizes. The shelves can be used for folded clothing as well as to keep shoes properly paired instead of in an unruly lump on the closet floor. Smaller spaces can use the long, slender hanging closet organizer in which shoes or folded clothing can be stores in plain view making it easier to find thing when they are needed.

One of the most difficult aspects of organizing a closet is knowing where to start. Once everything has been removed from the closet the initiative to make it better may quickly vanish when everything has to go back into the same amount of space. Finding a hanging closet organizer that has all the hooks, rods and shelves to hold everything can make the venture more efficient.

The first step is to remove everything from the closet, discarding or donating everything that should not be in there is the first place, and then install the hanging closet organizer. This is a simple process of placing its included hangers over the existing clothing rod. The rest of the clothing, shoes and other articles that could be eliminated can then be organized in the newly-created space.

The secret to keeping everything in the new hanging closet organizer is to keep everything where it belongs. If an empty shelf appears, it has been designated for something and should remain empty until that particular item is returned to its place.
